Chapters Beyond Books - A Jack and Jill of America, Inc. & Children's Defense Fund Partnership

The Northeast Dallas Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is extremely excited to announce that it is among the first chaptersin our organization  to donate to the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® at Home Chapters Beyond Books Program.

Through the Chapters Beyond Books partnership, organizations that make a generous donation to the CDF receive a shipment of culturally-relevant books to distribute into the hands and homes of children in grades K-12. The CDF’s goal is to distribute nearly 50,000 books across the country to families, helping them build their in-home libraries while also developing and nurturing their child’s love for reading.

The Northeast Dallas Chapter will be distributing the books that it received as a result of its donation during the Garland NAACP’s Annual Back-to-School Fair.

The mission of the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is to ensure every child a healthy start, a head start, a fair start, a safe start and a moral start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. Inspired by the original Freedom Summer of 1964, the CDF Freedom Schools® program was founded in 1995 and designed to improve reading, language skills, interpersonal relationships, strengthen families, and develop in all participants the skills needed to improve conditions for children and families in their communities.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, which is dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty.

Mardi Gras Gala

On Saturday February 8, 2020, Jack and Jill of America, Inc, Northeast Dallas Chapter hosted our Fourth Annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser. We were proud to partner with Garland Independent School District’s Foundation honoring the academic achievements of graduating seniors in pursuit of higher education.  The proceeds from this fundraiser allowed us to provide much needed financial gifts to six Garland ISD students with an economic need and a desire to succeed post high school.

Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated has demonstrated since 1938 its dedication to nurturing and strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. It is through this mission that we are encouraged to cultivate strategic partnerships that reinforce our core values, increase our visibility and allow us to best serve our communities.
